Michele Cascella was born in 1892 in Ortona. He began his career very early, in 1909, exhibiting in Paris at the Druet Gallery and at the famous Salon d'Automne. In 1919, he moved to Milan, where he devoted himself for a long time to ceramics and engraving. Between 1928 and 1942, he participated in every edition of the Venice Biennale, and then exhibited there in 1948 with a solo exhibition. After the war, he traveled extensively, dividing his time between the United States and Italy. He died in Milan in 1989. His painting is characterized by a vibrant palette and the joyful luminosity of his landscapes.
