Adam and Eve, 1989

8-color stone lithograph
h cm 100x140
Francesco Messina was born in Sicily in 1900. He later grew up and studied in Genoa, where he began his artistic career. From 1932 onwards, he moved to Milan, where he taught sculpture at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, serving as its director until 1944. His works are held in various museums in Europe and America, in numerous important national and international private collections, and as public monuments in several Italian cities. He died in Milan in 1995.

Our lithograph, Adam and Eve, proposes a subject dear to the artist, resolving it with a splendid dichotomous composition in which the vigorous brown tones of Adam contrast with the melancholic pallor of Eve.
