The artist was born in Buenos Aires on August 6, 1889, and was active in his hometown until 1966. He graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts in 1910 and then continued his studies in Europe, spending time in Spain, Italy, and France. He later settled in Rome, dividing his time between Italy and Argentina, while also holding various military and institutional positions alongside his artistic career. He had several solo exhibitions at prominent national and international galleries, exhibiting in La Plata, Mar del Plata, Venice, Rome, Milan, Cagliari, and Monaco. He also participated in several group exhibitions, winning several awards. He explored various genres in his painting, focusing especially on portraits and still lifes. Our painting, in particular, stands out for its psychological rendering of the figures and the beautiful pictorial texture, elaborate and textured for the figures, simple and sparse for the airy background.
