Christopher Columbus mocked by the doctors of Salamanca, last quarter of the 19th century

The work is an early copy of an original created by the painter Nicolò Barabino in 1887, now housed in the Palazzo Orsini in Genoa. More likely, however, the model for the painting came from an engraving of the painting made in the same years for the famous magazine Scena Illustrata.
