The painting is a beautiful bucolic scene in a veristic style. At the end of the 19th century, the composition enjoyed a certain success and was reproduced several times by various painters of the Neapolitan school; among these, the original prototype is probably to be found in the work of the famous Filippo Palizzi, who influenced Milone.
