Saint Dominic, icon on a gold background, 18th century

This beautiful wooden aedicule depicts Saint Dominic displaying the Holy Scriptures. The panel, notable for its high pictorial quality and the delicate rendering of the saint's face, is painted on a gold background with a stamped halo, imitating the Italian style of the first half of the 15th century. The frame is decorated with small brackets and floral inlays, but has some cracks in the margins.
