Francesco De Mura (Napoli, 1696 - 1782)Workshop of
Annunciation, Late 18th century
oil on canvas
h cm 102x66
The painting, a delightful Annunciation from the late eighteenth century, is attributed to the workshop of the famous Neapolitan painter Francesco De Mura (1696-1782). The structure and iconographic layout, in fact, are derived from an autograph work by De Mura now belonging to the BPER Banca Collection, preserved in L'Aquila. Unlike the prototype, however, here the background is further enlivened by a group of cherubs and several variations.
