(Parigi, 1686 - Beauvais, 1755)

Hunting scene, 18th century

oil on canvas, first canvas

Jean-Baptiste Oudry– Beauvais was a French painter and draughtsman. He was best known for his still lifes, hunting scenes, and animal drawings. From 1722, he entered the direct employ of Louis XV, and from 1726, he worked for the Beauvais Manufactory, designing entire tapestry cycles. Our painting highlights the great anatomical skill and the skillful stagecraft, which contrasts the dog's tension with the prey's fragility.
