José Guevara was an important Spanish artist originally from Puebla de Guzmar. He initially trained in Huelva and then traveled to South America, where he came into contact with its vibrant artistic scene. During this period, he developed his signature technique: pigment combustion. From 1958, he participated in several exhibitions in Europe and the United States. In 1962, he took part in the Venice Biennale. From the 1970s until his death, he divided his time between the Marche region and Huelva, pursuing a personal exploration of bold colors and chromatic experimentation.
