Port landscape with fortification and tower, 17th century

The work is a beautiful port landscape with a late 17th-century fortification. The urban or port landscape as a genre in its own right began to gain popularity in the 17th century, spreading from the Flemish practice and then, in the 18th century, evolving into vedutism proper.
