Comiso stone

“Comiso stone has a pale yellow-gold color which in the sun acquires an indescribable opulence: tender enough to allow an elaborate cut, it can also be left almost bare, so as to give free rein to the multiple language of matter”  The formation dates back to the Late Oligocene (37-38 million years ago). It is located in the hills above the city of Comiso, presenting itself in various layers of varying quality, from the most porous to the most compact structure. The extraction is done in 'open cast' quarries.
