Eugenio Zampighi

(1859 - Maranello, 1944)

Awarded the Poletti Prize in 1880, Zampighi had the opportunity to continue his studies first in Rome and then in Florence. Of particular importance to his training were the years he spent practising as a photographer, which led him to pay particular attention to detail, thus recreating in his canvases a joyful and idyllic image of the Italian rural world. His intimate atmospheres manage to blend together a veristic matrix and a very broad colour palette.
