Gaetano Previati

(Ferrara, 1852 - Lavagna, 1920)

The painting is signed lower left by the renowned painter Gaetano Previati, an exponent of the Divisionist movement. His training took place primarily in Milan, where he absorbed influences from the masters of Romanticism and Realism. The subject is a woman's face depicted in profile, enveloped in a white cloud, characterized by dense, stringy brushstrokes.
