Spanish painter Pablo Salinas was born in Madrid in 1871. He began his artistic training in his hometown at a young age, later attending the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando. From 1886, thanks to a scholarship, he moved to Rome, where he established himself in the international art scene. He died in Rome in 1946.
His painting was always rich and vibrant, often depicting scenes of life in eighteenth-century costume, set in luxurious settings or glimpses of contemporary life. Our portrait of a woman is rendered with the usual pictorial complexity that distinguished him, both in the attention to detail of the figure and flowers, and in the rendering of the background.
