Arturo Ciacelli was born in Arnara in 1883. He began his training in Rome in his father's mosaic studio, and then attended free courses at the Academy of Fine Arts. During these years, he came into contact with Balla, Boccioni, and Severini. He also met the Swedish painter Elsa Ström, whom he married before moving to Stockholm. In Sweden, he achieved widespread recognition and translated the Technical Manifesto of Futurist Painting, spreading its ideas. In 1930, he participated in the Venice Biennale and moved to Paris; in those same years, he joined the "Aeropittura", creating some of his finest canvases. He died in Venice in 1966 while visiting the Biennale.
