Orfeo Tamburi was born in Jesi in 1910. He later studied at the Art School in Rome, before continuing his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in the capital. In 1936, he traveled to Paris, where he encountered the vibrant artistic scene and the influential painting of Cézanne. Upon returning to Italy, he received several commissions, including work for Roman theaters. That same year, he participated in the Venice Biennale for the first time, becoming a constant presence there until 1954. From 1955, he traveled throughout the United States, exhibiting in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York. He subsequently continued to travel throughout Europe, dedicating himself constantly to exhibiting. He died in 1994 in Ermont.
